microphone stand stage monitors?

we are in a rock n roll band there are six of us and we are back after a 5 year break.we are only at the rehearsal stages at the moment but soon will be gigging again.we used to carry a monitor each before but now we want to ditch the heavy monitors and go for something smaller and lighter.what sounds great is the monitors that can be fixed to a microphone stand and because they are closer to the ears they are said to work better at less power and volume.but we are quite a loud band our last monitors were 250 watt jbl`s and some nights were hard to hear and to turn them up further lead to feedback.so does anybody have any ideas or experiance with these smaller monitors.please dont say turn down the volume you know what drummers are like .

I have seen in-ear 'foldback' used very effectively - and probably would not be that expensive compared to your 250W jbl's...
Basically, they work almost like the opposite of a radio mic, with the AUX out's sent to little body-packs (though I'm pretty sure they were hard-wired) and then you plug your in-ear headphones - you can still have a different mix for each group of instruments just like with fold-back. No big monitors to lug around, no spill from monitors, each band member can adjust the volume with the body packs...
