RCA HDMI upconverting DVD player zoom problem?
Hi,
I have a RCA crt rear projection HDTV with 1080i, so I bought an upconverting dvd player with 1080i, it is also RCA. The problem is that my tv is sensitive to still images on the screen for a longer period of time. Meaning any still image like the black bars on a DVD movie will leave a permanent burnt mark on my tv if I watch for lets say 2 hours (length of a movie). My tv does not support zoom function for Component and DVI (I use HDMI to DVI cable to hook up the dvd and the tv). My DVD player has got zoom, great I thought, but not so great. During playback I hit the zoom button, great it did fill the screen with no black top and bottom bars. But on the right hand corner of my screen it showed 2X (zoom factor). The 2X did not dissapear and I was really upset because that 2X will burn my tv's screen. I tried 3 different models of the RCA upconverting one, but they all had the same problem. I tried everything even hitting the clear and display button. None worked. Please help.
Are you sure about your belief that the black bars are a problem. The burn-in is caused by the phosphors being continuously energized. If the screen is black, they're not being energized at all-there shouldn't be any burn-in.
